Smolensk
West of Smolensk along the frontier: It is July 7th, 1941. Facing the German Army Group Center was the Soviet Western Front defending along the Dnepr River. Elements of 13th Army are holding the line from Orsha to south of Mogilev. North of Orsha, the 20th Army held the river line up to Vitebsk, while the 19th Army was at Vitebsk and to the north, with the 25th Rifle Corps in reserve. Most of the Russian divisions were reserve divisions, with shortages of men and equipment, not to mention training. PanzerGruppes 2 and 3 stand poised to leap the Dnepr and seize Smolensk, and drive to the gateway to Moscow. This is the standard historical campaign game covering the entire battle for a period of two and a half weeks. [over 75,000 sq Km - 170 Turns]

Mogilev
130km SW of Smolensk: On July 7th, 1941, the 24th Panzer Corps attempted to cross the Dnepr River near Mogilev. The Russian forces, the Soviet 13th Army, are well dug in around Mogilev, but strung thinly along the Dnepr River. The Germans must decide whether to take Mogilev by storm, or bypass this fortification and plunge deep into Russia and strike for the exit objectives along the east edge of the map. This is a medium sized Introductory Scenario covering a two and a half day period. It introduces players to controlling larger formations over longer periods of time. [2700 sq Km - 25 Turns]

Orsha
70km SW of Smolensk: On July 7th, 1941, elements of PanzerGruppe 2 force the Dnepr between Orsha and Mogilev. The Russian forces are strung thinly along the Dnepr River while firmly entrenched and anchored at Orsha and Mogilev. The Germans have the option of assaulting these cities, or striking across the Dnepr penetrating deep into Russian territory. This is a medium sized scenario that covers the south area in the early part of the campaign, from Mogilev in the south to Orsha. [9000 sq Km - 25 Turns]

Vitebsk
60km NW of Smolensk: On July 7th, 1941, PanzerGruppe 3 attacks Vitebsk from the march. The Russian forces defending this city are some of the best the Russian has available. In particular, the 1st Mechanized Division has some of the new T-34 tanks, just now available on this front. Together with other Russian mechanized forces, this will be a challenge to the German forces. The action depicted by this scenario covers the first four days of the northern section of the Smolensk Campaign Game. [11,000 sq Km - 40 Turns]

Encirclement
Smolensk, July 15th, 1941: Just over a week has passed since the Germans crossed the Dnepr River. Now the second phase of the Smolensk operation opens with an attempt to take Smolensk itself. PanzerGruppe 3 is deep in the rear north of Smolensk and PanzerGruppe 2 on the southern fringes of the city itself. The Germans were poised to bag yet another large pocket of the Red Army. The German units while strong, are spread out and deep in the enemy rear with large gaps on their flanks. This scenario, while not as large as a full Campaign is a larger scenario covering two and a half days of fighting during this critical stage of the battle. [13,000 sq Km - 25 Turns]

Para Drop
Smolensk, July 15th, 1941: Just over a week has passed since the Germans crossed the Dnepr River. Now the second phase of the Smolensk operation opens with an attempt to take Smolensk itself. PanzerGruppe 3 is deep in the rear north of Smolensk and PanzerGruppe 2 on the southern fringes of the city itself. The Germans were poised to bag yet another large pocket of the Red Army. The German units while strong, are spread out and deep in the enemy rear with large gaps on their flanks. This scenario, while not as large as a full Campaign is a larger scenario covering two and a half days of fighting during this critical stage of the battle. In this "What-If" scenario, the German parachute attack on Crete never occurred. Instead, the parachute troops will be dropped here in an attempt to cut off Smolensk. [13,000 sq Km - 25 Turns]

Smolensk-Both

the morning of 11th July the armored forces of the 10th Panzer Division forced a river crossing defended
by the Russian 110th Rifle Division. [600 sq Km - 16 Turns]

Op Scenario #2
Vitebsk, 80km WNW of Smolensk: This Operational Situation is a historically based Meeting Engagement of
Armored Forces. In this battle, the armored forces of the German 7th Panzer Division have broken through
at Vitebsk and is meet by the Russian 1st Mechanized Division rushing to stabilize the situation by
counterattacking. [600 sq Km - 7 Turns]
