HPS Simulations is proud to announce the release of A Paul Bruffell Game: Punic Wars 2 |

|
|||
'Ceterum (autem) censeo Carthaginem esse delendam' (Furthermore, I consider that Carthage must be destroyed) - Cato the Elder (added to the conclusion of all of his speeches to the Roman Senate) The Punic Wars, in all their terrible longevity and brutality, have echoed forcefully throughout history. The reverberations have proven tangible, spiritual, and philosophical. They are part of the foundation and fabric of the modern world even to this day. In the end the mighty Carthaginian state was laid waste and then utterly destroyed, Rome transformed from a regional power into a dominant military force which would rule Europe and North Africa for hundreds of years to come. Their Empire, now sage and prosperous, provided the solid bedrock upon which later generations would build. |

Punic Wars 2 recreates this conflict at the tactical level, and in the process takes the Ancient Warfare Series to the next degree. It builds on the fun and successful original game, and is a wargamer/miniatures player's delight. It encompasses all of the original Punic Wars content, and adds a number of new features, play options, and additional scenarios. (Click here for a partial list). |

Evolution And Inspiration | |||
Covering the period of 300 to 190 BC, the game focuses on the epic struggle between Rome and Carthage. These were some of the bloodiest and most savage campaigns to that point in history, and showcased many instances of brilliant generalship and evolving tactics which are still studied to this day. |

Importantly, Rome also campaigned against foes other than just Carthage during this period; many of the other engagements, had they turned out differently, had enormous potential for cascading effects. To this end, Punic War 2 also includes Rome's battles with the Republic's other opponents of that era, including against the neighboring Italian tribes and states, subjugation of the Celtic and Iberian tribes, as well as the grisly engagements with the Epirotes and Greeks, among others. |
||
What You Get | |||
As with all of the games in the Ancient Warfare Series, Punic Wars 2 is tactical and hex based, with a 'each side gives orders' phase followed by simultaneous resolution of those orders. Each hex represents a distance of 20 meters, with a turn representing 15 minutes of real time. The game presents 52 Scenarios, most of which are historically-based, including Heraclea, Beneventum, Utica, Zama, and many others. You may also face off against an opponent in a hypothetical 'force-balanced' match from the 'Table Top Series' of battles that are also included. |

In addition, full-feature editors allow players to freely modify the existing scenarios, or to create new ones using any of the 88 included maps. The maps themselves are also customizable, and another editor enables players to tweak unit values and other aspects of the OOB's. So it's all in the player's hands. It's time to prove your mettle. Try your hand leading your troops as a Consul of Rome, the indomitable Hannibal, epic King Pyrrhus, or any of the other many commanders pitting their strength in the quest for victory and glory. With Punic Wars 2, it's all here for you. |
